The breakout star of this year’s Virslīga, Ingars Pūlis, has been noticed and has signed a new contract, officially becoming a player of FK Liepāja.
The 24-year-old Pūlis has been the biggest surprise of the 2025 season. In 21 appearances for FK Tukums 2000, he has scored 11 goals—nearly half of the club’s total tally of 23 goals this season.
A product of the Valmiera Football School, Pūlis made his top-flight debut at the age of 17 with Valmiera FC. Over six years in the Valmiera FC system, he also spent one season on loan at FK Metta. Before this season, he had scored 10 goals in 62 Virslīga matches.
Last season, he featured just twice in the Virslīga for Valmiera FC, scoring one goal, while spending most of the year with the reserve team in the Latvian First League (Nākotnes Līga), where he netted 11 goals in 22 matches.
Following financial troubles at Valmiera FC, Pūlis was forced to find a new club and joined FK Tukums 2000. This season has become his breakout campaign, as he has already surpassed his combined goal tally from all previous seasons in just half a year.
Despite signing with FK Liepāja, Pūlis will remain on loan at FK Tukums 2000 until the end of the season.
