FK Auda continues to bolster its roster in preparation for their upcoming European fixtures, announcing the signing of Surinamese winger Jayen Gerold.
The 21-year-old talent is a product of the esteemed AZ Alkmaar academy in the Netherlands, where he has spent his entire youth career. In 2023, at just 18 years old, Gerold made his debut for Jong AZ—the reserve team of AZ Alkmaar competing in the Dutch second division—marking the occasion with an assist in a match against Willem II.
Last season, Gerold became a full-time member of Jong AZ in the Eerste Divisie, making 29 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing five assists. In total, the young winger has featured in 39 matches in the Dutch second tier.
Adding to his credentials, Gerold was part of the AZ Alkmaar U19 side that triumphed in the 2022/23 UEFA Youth League, Europe’s top club competition at the youth level.
On the international front, Jayen Gerold has represented Suriname at the U20 level, taking part in the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
FK Auda, currently sitting in fourth place in the Latvian Higher League (Virslīga), is set to face Northern Irish side Larne FC in the first round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
