As BFC Daugavpils prepare for their historic European competition debut, the club has added another exciting talent to their squad — 18-year-old winger Victor Promise from FS Jelgava.

The Nigerian youngster becomes the third summer signing for Daugavpils. Earlier, the club announced the arrivals of two promising players on loan from reigning champions FC RFS: 18-year-old striker Faycal Papou Konate from Burkina Faso and 19-year-old Gambian attacking midfielder Modou Saidy.

Konate, despite limited first-team opportunities with RFS (just two top-flight appearances), impressed in the Nākotnes Līga with five goals in six matches. Similarly, Saidy also featured twice in the Virslīga and contributed three goals in nine appearances for the RFS reserve team in the Latvian second tier (Nākotnes līga).

Unlike the other two, Victor Promise brings a higher level of top-tier experience to the squad. Having joined Jelgava earlier this year from Nigeria’s Right2Win Academy, the versatile winger has played in 17 Virslīga matches this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Capable of operating on both wings, Promise found the back of the net just a few weeks ago in a match against FK Tukums 2000.

Daugavpils will travel to Albania in less than a week to face KF Vllaznia in what will be their first-ever appearance in European competition. However, recent domestic form has raised some concerns — after a strong start to the season, the team has managed just two wins in their last 12 matches. Despite the dip in form, they currently sit fifth in the league standings, although the gap to the top four has begun to widen.
