Estonian national team centre-back Joonas Tamm is making his return to Romania after a brief hiatus, signing a contract with Liga II side Sepsi OSK. The new deal runs until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year.

The 33-year-old defender spent the past two seasons in Bulgaria’s top division, representing Botev Plovdiv. Last season, he featured in 29 league matches. Due to the club’s financial difficulties, Tamm left as a free agent and now makes his return to Romania.

Prior to his stint in Bulgaria, Tamm had already played in Romania, spending one season with the country’s most renowned club, FCSB. During his time there, he made 44 appearances and scored four goals, also taking part in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage.

Tamm’s diverse career path has taken him through several lower-tier Swedish clubs, Norwegian Eliteserien sides Sarpsborg 08 and Lillestrøm, Poland’s Ekstraklasa with Korona Kielce, as well as Ukrainian Premier League clubs Vorskla Poltava and Desna Chernihiv. Back home in Estonia, he has worn the jerseys of FC Flora Tallinn and JK Viljandi.

On the international stage, the experienced Estonian defender has earned 65 caps and scored four goals for his national team.

Sepsi will compete in the Romanian second division next season, having been relegated from the top flight last year for the first time in eight years
