Žalgiris Women have strengthened their attack with the signing of Venezuela forward Jhoagny Contreras.
The 24-year-old arrives in Vilnius with experience both in her home country and also in Chile, and has also featured in the women’s Copa Libertadores. Contreras began her career with Deportivo Táchira at the age of 15 and later played for Estudiantes de Mérida. She then moved to Chile, where she represented Everton de Viña del Mar in both the top flight and second tier. In 2024, she returned to Deportivo Táchira before joining ADIFFEM and taking part in the women’s Copa Libertadores. Last year she was back in Chile with Deportes Iquique.
Contreras said the move to Lithuania and Žalgiris represented a major step in her career. She said the club’s development and its approach to women’s football were key factors in her decision, adding that playing in Europe had long been one of her ambitions.
Contreras becomes the fourth foreign player in the team alongside fellow Venezuelan Emperatriz García, Ukraine’s Valerija Postol and Moldova’s Irina Topal.
Žalgiris Women will play their next match on 4th of April against reigning Lithuanian champions Gintra.
