Žalgiris have strengthened their defensive options by signing Romanian centre-back Grigore Turda on a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old arrives in Vilnius after a short spell with Bosnian side Sarajevo, where he featured seven times in the league and twice in UEFA Conference League qualifying.

Turda has spent most of his career in Romania across the top two tiers, with his longest run coming at Argeș Pitești. He made 121 appearances for the club and scored six goals across five seasons, playing three campaigns in the Romanian top flight and two in the second division. The defender has also represented Romanian clubs such as Pandurii, FC Voluntari and FC Bužau.

Turda said he was eager to get started in Lithuania. “I’m very happy to be here – everything is new,” he said. “I’m ready for this new stage and I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
