The captain of Pärnu JK Vaprus, Magnus Villota, told Soccernet.ee in a post match interview following a 0-3 defeat by FC Flora Tallinn, that the goals were avoidable. He also expressed joy about games transferring to natural grass stadiums.

“I don’t know, which jar of honey Aiko Orgla (Flora’s goalkeeping coach) always talks about. Yes, they got their jar, three points for them,” Villota hinted the coach’s pre-match comments in the interview to Soccernet TV. “We were softies at defending our box and that’s where the vague goals came from, completely avoidable. That’s a shame.”

Although Vaprus had many chances at the start of the game, the teams went to the half time break with a score of 0-2. “At some point, we were very low and then they had chance after chance, we couldn’t get the ball out and then came 0-1, a second, and almost a third at the end of the half. We came out for the second half with a mindset, that nothing is lost – we score one and the game’s dynamics change completely-, but then, the third one came and after that, it was important to not concede any more,” Vaprus’ captain concluded the game.

The quality of the grass surface of Pärnu Rannastaadion was liked by the players. “This is why we do it, we were eagerly waiting for it – it is not very pleasant, playing on bad artificial turfs. The worst thing is, that the players suffer, nobody else really cares. It is very good to be here. Props to the groundsman, Jüri Saar – a top, top field for spring. No complaints whatsoever!” Villota praised.

The next game for the summer capital side will be on artificial grass again, and under a dome, as Narva Trans will host them in Narva’s Football hall, due to Fama stadium’s pitch being relaid. “It’s a funny situation, that it’s in the hall. Maybe it’s agreed that way. In my opinion it is not normal. But the game has to be played and we will go there to give a battle for all three points. No difference, where or what – we need points.”

Narva’s Hall, however, was praised by the center back. “The Hall is really good, with a good turf, one of the best halls in Estonia. It’s good, that Narva finally got a Hall, they needed it a lot.”

Making his maiden start in the Premium Liiga, Flora defender Nikita Kalmõkov helped to keep a clean sheet against Vaprus, replacing Sander Tovstik in the starting lineup and recording 65 minutes. “A very important win for myself and the team. We kept a clean sheet and it was a good game.” the 16-year old said.

“I did the maximum I could. It was difficult, but I did my job and it went well – 3:0 and a clean sheet.” Kalmõkov also praised Flora’s level and friendliness inside the squad. When asked about his ambitions as a footballer, he replied with getting abroad, but helping the team first.
