Vaprus employ new assistant coach

Pärnu JK Vaprus have announced, that Taavi Viik will join the first team as head coach, starting from the 5th of January.

38-year old Viik, who owns an UEFA A level license, will join the club from FC Flora, where he has previously worked as U17-U21 head of methology and U21 team’s head coach. Viik also has experience as caretaker manager for Flora’s senior squad, where he started in the summer of 2024 until the end of that season.

Taavi Viik: ” I am eagerly waiting for the opportunity to work in one of Estonia’s most exciting and fastest developing clubs. Vaprus has left a very positive impression in the last few years, with it’s big community and and an attractive young squad. I will give my maximum, to make the next step in the Premium Liiga together.”

Head coach Igor Prins added: “Vaprus has been able to play for sixth to seventh spot in the table for the last three years. While setting targets, we want to develop and fix the squad as a club, to aim for higher spots in the league table. I believe, that with Taavi joining our staff, we can move towards our targets.

Sporting director Karl Palatu also added: “With Taavi joining, our senior squad’s staff will be more versatile. I rate him as a methodically strong coach with a lot of practical experience, who has proved during his coaching career, that he is able to develop young players to the level required for Premium Liiga and the national team.”

Vaprus’ former head coach Henri Rüütli will continue in the club as a youth coach.
