2022 Latvian Champions, Valmiera FC, concluded the Altero.lv LIIGA season with a commanding 5–0 victory over FK Karosta, formally celebrating their championship title at Jānis Daliņš Stadium. The team had secured first place earlier in October following an LFF Disciplinary Committee ruling that awarded SK Super Nova-2 a technical defeat.

Having clinched the title in advance, Valmiera approached the final round with confidence, producing an emphatic win. Early goals from Oskars Stupelis, Yusuke Omori, and Daniils Cepeļevs gave the hosts a 3–0 lead after just 16 minutes. Cepeļevs later added his second in the 64th minute from a corner delivered by Ēriks Maura-Boka, while substitute Edgars Gauračs completed the scoring midway through the second half from a Niks Savaļnieks cross.

Valmiera’s head coach watched from the stands due to a one-match suspension, while defender Nikita Cepeļevs returned to the pitch after recovering from a leg injury.

After the final whistle, players received their championship medals and trophy in front of home supporters, marking the club’s immediate return to higher competition. The team will compete in the Nākotnes Līga next season, while runners-up SK Super Nova-2 will also be eligible to move up, provided their first team retains its Tonybet Virslīga status.

According to competition regulations, Saldus NSS/Leevon-2 and FK Staiceles Bebri will drop out of the league, making room for six teams from the fourth division to join the 2026 season.

Valmiera FC were relegated to the third tier of Latvian football at the end of 2024 season due to unpaid tax debts, which remained unsettled to the amount of EUR 89,323.89 as of 24th of October.
