Edgaras Utkus scored his first goal for Al Kholood, netting a dramatic stoppage-time winner in a 3-2 away victory over Al Khaleej FC in the Saudi Pro League.
The 25-year-old Lithuania international defender made his fifth appearance for Al Kholood since completing his move from the Belgian top division. The match marked an important opportunity for his side to end a two-game losing streak.
The first half finished 1-1 before a lively second period unfolded. Al Kholood took the lead in the 76th minute, only for the hosts to equalise ten minutes later. With the match seemingly heading for a draw, the decisive moment came deep into stoppage time.
In the 12th minute of added time, Al Kholood launched a final counterattack. Utkus, who had required medical treatment earlier in the match following a collision that left his head bandaged, joined the attack. Receiving a pass directly in front of goal, the centre-back demonstrated composure and attacking instinct, finishing accurately to secure the 3-2 victory for the visitors.
The goal was Utkus’ first since joining the Saudi Arabian club. The win moves Al Kholood further clear of the relegation zone, opening a seven-point gap over 16th-placed Damac FC.
Al Kholood will return to action in four days’ time, facing Neom SC away from home on Saturday.
