With four rounds still left to play in Lithuania’s Pirma Lyga, FK TransINVEST clinched the championship in style. The Vilnius-based side sealed the title in front of their home crowd with a convincing 3-0 victory over FC Hegelmann B, confirming both the league crown and promotion back to the top tier after just a one-year absence.
For TransINVEST, the triumph is a statement of resilience. Just two years ago, the club wrote history by winning the Lithuanian Cup and earning a place in the top flight for the very first time. Their maiden A Lyga campaign was spirited but ultimately heartbreaking: despite collecting a respectable 38 points, they finished bottom of the table, one point shy of FK Sūduva, and were relegated.
This season, however, there was never any doubt. TransINVEST dominated the division, holding a 12-point lead over FK Neptūnas going into this decisive match. A single point would have been enough to mathematically seal the championship, but the team left nothing to chance.
Ukrainian forward Artem Radchenko opened the scoring in the first half, easing any remaining nerves. After the break, compatriot Yegor Glushach struck twice to put the result beyond doubt, delivering yet another three points and crowning TransINVEST as champions with matches to spare.
With promotion secured, attention now turns to the race for second place, which carries the chance to fight for a spot in the A Lyga via a playoff against the 9th-placed top-flight side. At present, FK Neptūnas and Tauras Tauragė are locked level on 55 points, setting up a thrilling run-in over the final four rounds.
