On Monday afternoon in Kaunas, the highly anticipated draw for the Round of 16 (Third Stage) of the 2025 Lithuanian FPRO LFF Cup took place.
The third stage of the tournament features sixteen teams: eight representatives from the A Lyga, five clubs from the Pirma Lyga, one from the Second League A Division, and two from the Third League.
On Monday, these sixteen clubs were paired into eight pairs, with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals of the national Cup.
This year’s draw was conducted by A Lyga President Gintaras Staniulis and the head coach of the Lithuanian U19 National Team and former manager of FA Šiauliai, Mindaugas Čepas.
The Round of 16 drew the following matchups, including another Grunwald derby between FK Žalgiris and Kauno Žalgiris:
- Kretinga Minija vs. Džiugas Telšiai
- Tauragė Tauras vs. FK Sūduva
- TransINVEST vs. Hegelmann FC
- Alternative Football Club (AFK) vs. Plungė Babrungas
- FK Kazlų Rūda vs. FK Jonava
- FK Žalgiris vs. FK Kauno Žalgiris
- FK Garliava vs. FK Panevėžys
- FK Banga vs. FA Šiauliai
Current Cup holders FK Banga drew a tricky FA Šiauliai side, whose best result in this competition was a narrow loss in the final to TransINVEST back in 2023. Last year, Šiauliai were eliminated by Kauno Žalgiris in the quarter-finals.
The Round of 16 clashes are scheduled to take place on the weekends of May 20–21 or May 27–28, promising a showcase of high-stakes football as teams battle for a spot in the quarterfinals.
