Bubacarr Tambedou has suggested his spell at Paide Linnameeskond was cut short by delays over his paperwork, but the circumstances around his visa issue have been disputed.
The Premium liiga’s current leading scorer, now playing for FCI Levadia, told Soccernet.ee in an interview earlier this week that Paide were slow with his visa application and later backed away from figures previously agreed during transfer talks.
Tambedou said the problems dated back to the end of the 2022 season, when he missed Paide’s final two league matches.
“I remember I had been in Estonia about eight months and the league was about to end. I couldn’t finish it and I had to go to Gambia. Paide forgot to do something with my documents and the visa started to expire,” he said.
The report adds, however, that his long-term visa application had been rejected by Estonia’s Police and Border Guard Board on 13th September, which was presented as the reason he did not feature in the closing rounds.
Tambedou arrived in Estonia from Gambia in the winter of 2022 and spent two seasons with Paide, before a loan move at the start of 2023 to Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol. He returned to Paide in the summer but did not establish himself under the coach and was later sold to Hapoel Tel Aviv, subsequently making his way back to Estonia via Georgia.
