FK Liepāja has officially announced that Swedish manager Andreas Alm will take over the coaching duties, making him the team’s third manager in the last month.
Yesterday Baltic Football News reported that according to the Swedish media, the 51-year-old coach visited Liepāja on Monday to discuss the possibility of becoming the new manager. Today, the club confirmed that Alm, who previously managed IFK Norrköping, will replace Jānis Goba as the new FK Liepāja manager.
Throughout his career, Alm has coached several teams in Sweden and Denmark, including AIK, Vejle BK, Odense BK, and BK Häcken, with whom he won the Swedish Cup—his only major trophy as a manager.
FK Liepāja announced that Jānis Goba will remain with the team as Alm’s assistant manager, while Saulus Cekanavičus, Andrejs Piedels, and Michel Huff will also stay on to support the Swedish manager.
Andreas Alm’s first match in charge of FK Liepāja will be this Saturday, when they compete against their rivals, FK Grobiņa, in the derby.
