According to Swedish media outlet FootballDirekt, manager Andreas Alm is close to becoming the new coach of FK Liepāja.

The 51-year-old coach met with the FK Liepāja board in Liepāja on Monday to discuss the position. Last season, Alm managed IFK Norrköping, where he finished in 11th place in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

After ending his professional playing career, Alm began his coaching journey at Eskilstuna City in Sweden. He then moved to AIK, where he initially served as an assistant before being promoted to head coach, a role he held for five years.

In the summer of 2016, Alm transitioned to Denmark to take over at Vejle BK, but after one season, he left the club. The following year, he returned to Sweden to manage BK Häcken, where he won his first trophy—the Swedish Cup—in 2019.

Prior to his stint at Norrköping, Alm coached Odense BK in Denmark. Notably, he has been to Liepāja before; in 2018, his BK Häcken team played against FK Liepāja in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round, where Häcken advanced with a 4-2 aggregate victory.

If Alm is officially appointed, he would be the third manager for FK Liepāja in just two months. The season began with Croatian coach Dino Skender, who was let go after five games, and his assistant Jānis Goba temporarily took over. Currently, FK Liepāja sits sixth in the Virslīga table with 15 points after 11 games.
