In a move that caught many by surprise, Lithuanian national team coach Edgaras Jankauskas has named 22-year-old winger Motiejus Burba in his squad for the upcoming November fixtures. This marks the first senior national team call-up for the promising youngster.

Burba’s inclusion follows an impressive run of form with Žalgiris Vilnius, where he has flourished since Rolandas Džiaukštas took over as head coach. Under Džiaukštas, Burba has become a key figure for the 2024 A lyga champions, which caught Jankauskas’ attention.

Having represented Lithuania at various youth international levels, Burba now takes a significant step forward in his career as he joins the senior squad for the first time.

Lithuania is set to face Israel in a friendly match in Kaunas on November 13, before traveling to the Netherlands to conclude their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on November 17.
