Super subs Yusuf’s late double lifts Hegelmann past Banga

A dramatic finish in the Matchday 14 of the TOPsport A Lyga saw FC Hegelmann edge past FK Banga Gargždai 2–0, thanks to a stoppage-time brace from Rasheed Yusuf. The win marked another strong showing from Andrius Skerla’s side, who continue to be in the title race.

The first half offered few clear-cut chances, though there were moments of intent. In the 20th minute, Leo Ribeiro delivered a set-piece that found Wesley Gabriel, but Banga goalkeeper Mantas Bertašius made the save. A minute later, Ribeiro fed Njoya Abdel Kader, whose shot veered off target. Kader came close again on the stroke of halftime, but his effort was denied by a sharp reaction from Bertašius.

After the break, Hegelmann began to push forward. In the 54th minute, Valdas Antužis sent a long-range strike over the bar, and moments later, Vaidas Magdušauskas nearly broke the deadlock—only for Gabriel to clear his shot off the goal line.

Donatas Kazlauskas found himself in a promising position in the 65th minute but had to settle for a corner. Later, Hegelmann suffered a blow when Lazar Kojić had to leave the pitch after a heavy collision.

The breakthrough finally came in stoppage time. In the 90+2′ minute, Rasheed Yusuf latched onto an Esmilis Kaušinis pass to put the hosts ahead. Ten minutes later, Yusuf struck again—this time finishing from a Carlos Duke assist to seal his brace and Hegelmann’s 2–0 victory.

With the win, Hegelmann climbs to 30 points and shares the top of the table with Kauno Žalgiris. Meanwhile, Banga sits in eighth place with 15 points, still searching for consistency.
