SK Super Nova have strengthened their squad on the eve of the new Virsliga season by adding forward Valerijs Lizunovs (22) and central midfielder Ņikita Barkovskis (19).
Lizunovs, a Latvia Under-21 international, scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists in 31 league appearances last season whilst on loan at Daugavpils, also marking his European debut in the Conference League against Vllaznia in Albania as Daugavpils won 1-0 thanks to his header. Widely considered to have high potential, Lizunovs was signed by RFS in 2022 but never made it past the pre-season phase and would spend his time on loan interchangeably at Daugavpils and Tukums. He brings experience of 139 top-tier matches and 39 goals with him.
Barkovskis arrives on loan from Daugavpils. The 19-year-old, who was a regular for Latvia’s Under-19 side, has made 58 top-flight appearances, registering two assists, as well as collecting 17 yellow cards and one red.
Super Nova begin their league season already on Sunday at 16:00 in Mežaparks against Auda.
