After four straight draws in the Virslīga, Super Nova returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, overpowering the higher-ranked Daugavpils with a commanding 4–1 victory. The star of the show? Jevgenijs Miņins, who had a hand in all four goals—scoring once and delivering three assists in a stunning all-around performance.
Super Nova came out with intent from the first whistle, pressing early and carving out chances. Their pressure paid off in the 13th minute, when Miņins opened the scoring with a pinpoint finish into the bottom corner, capitalizing on a sharp run into the box by Dmitro Sula.
The Miņins-Sula duo wasn’t done. Before the half was out, they combined for two more goals. First, Miņins teed up Sula just outside the penalty area. Then, only minutes later, Miņins delivered a clever backheel assist amidst a crowded box, and Sula made it 3–0 with his second of the day.
Daugavpils found a glimmer of hope early in the second half. Aleksejs Kudeļkins rose highest at the near post to nod in a corner and cut the deficit to 3–1 in the 48th minute. But any hopes of a comeback were short-lived. Just three minutes later, Super Nova struck again—this time through Mārcis Ošs, who powered in a header at the far post from a Miņins corner to seal the 4–1 scoreline.
The win also sees Super Nova climb one spot in the Virslīga standings, while Daugavpils remains in fifth place. Under the guidance of Ērvīns Pērkons, Super Nova is now unbeaten in six straight games, showing signs of growing momentum.
