SK Super Nova have confirmed they have retained one of their key leaders, with centre-back Mārcis Ošs agreeing to stay at the club for another season after signing a contract extension.

The Riga-based side finished eighth in the Latvian Virslīga this season and only a few days ago announced they would not continue their partnership with head coach Ervīns Pērkons. However, today the club delivered some positive news by extending the contract of their defensive anchor, the experienced 34-year-old Ošs.

In his first season with Super Nova, the veteran defender enjoyed an excellent campaign, making 30 Virslīga appearances and scoring three goals, helping the club secure survival in the top flight with an eighth-place finish.

Ošs has brought immense experience to the squad, having played a total of 232 Virslīga matches across his career, scoring 25 goals for clubs including FK Jelgava, Spartaks Jūrmala, and FC RFS, in addition to SK Super Nova.

His career has also included spells abroad, with appearances in Poland’s Ekstraklasa for Górnik Zabrze and stints in Switzerland with Lugano and Neuchâtel Xamax.

On the international stage, Ošs has earned 27 caps for the Latvian national team, scoring once for his country
