A Lyga side FK Sūduva Marijampolė have announced the signing of attacking player Faustas Steponavičius on a long-term contract ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old forward spent last season with Lithuanian Cup winners FK Panevėžys, where he played on loan from Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv. During the A Lyga campaign, Steponavičius made 32 league appearances, registering one goal and three assists. He also featured prominently in Panevėžys’ successful Lithuanian Cup run, adding four appearances, with one goal and one assist to his name.

With his contract at Botev Plovdiv now coming to an end, Steponavičius has opted to remain in Lithuania, joining Sūduva, who finished fourth in the A Lyga last season.

A native of Panevėžys, Steponavičius’ career has already taken him across several European leagues. In 2021, he moved abroad to join the Genoa academy in Italy, later spending time in Croatia before signing for RFS in Latvia in 2023. While on loan at FK Tukums 2000, he enjoyed a prolific spell, scoring eight league goals in 15 matches during the first half of the season.

That impressive form earned him a move to Bulgaria with Botev Plovdiv, where he made 24 appearances, scoring once. Over the past two seasons, he was loaned out to Septemvri Sofia in Bulgaria and the aforementioned FK Panevėžys in Lithuania.

Steponavičius, who has won the Lithuanian and Bulgarian Cup titles, has also earned two caps for the Lithuanian national team.

Sūduva are set to begin their preseason preparations in early January and have already secured the retention of several key players. Club captain Aleksandar Živanović remains with the team, as do goalkeepers Zenkevičius and Plūkas, alongside local players like Žygimantas Baltrūnas, Titas Milašius, and Markas Beneta.
