The 12th round of the TOPsport A Lyga kicked off at the Alytus City Stadium, where FK Sūduva secured a commanding 3–0 victory over a struggling DFK Dainava Alytus side that played most of the match with ten men. Despite the pouring rain, Marijampolė’s team extended their unbeaten run to five matches.
The visitors started brightly, nearly opening the scoring within the first ten minutes. A slick attacking move put Frankline Tangiri in a prime position, but the forward couldn’t connect cleanly with the ball. Dainava responded with their own chance, as Artem Baftalovskyi tested Ignas Plūkas, but the Sūduva keeper made a routine save.
Making his debut in the starting lineup, Lucky Thomas was a lively presence up front for Sūduva, finding himself in scoring positions twice, only to be denied by determined defending.
The game took a dramatic turn in the 42nd minute when Davor Rakić was shown a straight red card for violent conduct, leaving Dainava a man down. Moments later, Sūduva nearly capitalized, but Airidas Mickevičius made a spectacular save to deny Thomas after a pinpoint assist from Linas Zingertas.
But the breakthrough came just before the break, in first-half stoppage time. From a set piece, Tangiri made amends for his earlier miss, heading home to put Sūduva 1–0 up.
With a numerical advantage, Sūduva dominated possession after the interval and continued to create chances. Nauris Petkevičius was denied by another strong stop from Mickevičius, and Zingertas rattled the crossbar with a thunderous strike.
The pressure finally told late in the match. In the 82nd minute, Thomas got the goal he had been chasing, nodding in a header from Amadou Sabo’s cross. Just minutes later, Petkevičius capped the performance with a superbly taken free-kick to make it 3–0.
With the win, Sūduva solidifies their position at the top of the standings, while Dainava, still winless, languishes at the bottom with just two points from twelve rounds.
