Former BFC Daugavpils defender Wasiri Williams has returned to Ireland as he has signed with League of Ireland club Galway United.

The 25-year-old centre-back joined Daugavpils before the 2025 season and went on to make 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals. One of those strikes came in a historic moment for the club – BFC Daugavpils’ European debut, when Williams found the net in the home match against Albanian side KF Vllaznia.

Williams also played a key role in Daugavpils’ impressive domestic campaign, helping the club achieve its highest-ever finish in the Latvian Virslīga, securing fourth place at the end of the season.

Now the English defender makes his return to Irish football by joining Galway United, who finished eighth in the League of Ireland this season.

Before his move to Latvia, Williams featured for several clubs in the lower divisions in England, as well as enjoying spells abroad with Dundalk FC in Ireland and Partick Thistle in Scotland.

Baltic Football News also had the opportunity to speak with the defender during the summer – the full interview is available here.
