Commenting on the 0-0 draw against 9th place Tukums, BFC Daugavpils assistant coach Jurijs Sokolovs praised his team’s work ethic and adaptability in the face of an early red card.
Refusing to comment on a 16th minute red card given to Wally Fofana, BFC Daugavpils assistant coach Jurijs Sokolovs expressed overall satisfaction with an away draw against struggling Tukums 2000:
I will put it this way – today, we are satisfied with both the result and the team performance. I would like to thank all players who fought until the very end today. I think that even whilst playing with 10 men, we managed to demonstrate interesting and quality football today. It [sending off] was unexpected but the players understood how to adjust and we are satisfied with how they looked even despite being one man down. Every position has its set of requirements and, I think, everyone today played their position to a 100% and some even to 150%.
Despite drawing against Tukums, Daugavpils still find themselves in the 4th place in the Virslīga, just one point behind Riga FC who are playing SK Super Nova later today.
