Midfielder Andrei Smirnov has signed for Maardu Linnameeskond ahead of the new season, following his departure from FC Kuressaare – the region’s only island-based club.

The 22-year-old featured regularly in the top flight last year, starting 16 Premium liiga matches for the Saaremaa side and making a further 13 appearances from the bench.

Smirnov has played 58 matches in Estonia’s top division across his career – 56 for Kuressaare and two for Tallinna Legion – providing three assists.

A former Estonia youth international, he has been named in Maardu’s starting XI in every February fixture in the Taliturniir winter tournament.

Maardu will compete in the Esiliiga this season after winning Esiliiga B in 2025, finishing 17 points clear of Nõmme United U21.
