The new season of the J2 League kicked off today in Japan, where Lithuanian national team player Vyktinas Slivka plays professional football for Sagan Tosu.

Sagan Tosu side who were relegated from the top Japanese league last season for the first time since 2011, lost their opening match 0-1 against Vegalta Sendai today.

The 29-year-old midfielder started the game in an unusual position as a center-forward and played the entire match.

The only goal of the game came in the 71st minute, scored by midfielder Yuta Goke. Despite Sagan Tosu putting more pressure on the opposition in the second half, they could not find an equalizer, resulting in a final score of 0-1.

Sagan Tosu’s next match in the J2 League will be next Saturday. They are set to play an away game against Iwata in the early morning in Baltic time.
