The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has signed a memorandum of intent with Adventika Group on the acquisition and reconstruction of Skonto Stadium as part of the national football stadium project, following approval by the LFF board. The project is planned in cooperation with the Riga City Council, the Latvian state, UEFA and FIFA.
The memorandum marks a new phase in the project, while maintaining the goal of delivering modern football infrastructure that meets international standards. The current plan focuses on reconstructing Skonto Stadium, allowing the use of existing infrastructure and urban connections while adapting the venue to modern and future requirements.
LFF confirmed that cooperation with the Riga City Council will continue and that the municipality remains a key partner. Until a final purchase agreement is concluded, LFF will retain its land use rights on Lucavsala, keeping it as an alternative potential stadium location.
The agreement enables further structured talks with the Latvian government, Riga City Council, UEFA and FIFA to secure institutional and financial support. LFF president Vadims Ļašenko said Skonto Stadium’s traditions and infrastructure make it a strong candidate for a top-level national stadium, adding that a state working group is assessing all scenarios and preparing financial and economic calculations. LFF also highlighted Skonto’s historical significance in Latvian football since the 1930s, as well as its advantages in infrastructure, public transport access and city integration compared to other options.
