Lithuanian A Lyga side FA Šiauliai have announced the signing of Lithuanian youth international midfielder Brooklyn Leipus.

The 18-year-old becomes Šiauliai’s second reinforcement of the offseason. Although born and raised in England, Leipus has represented Lithuania at various youth international levels since 2022 due to his Lithuanian roots.

Leipus, who also holds South African citizenship, developed his football education at the Bristol Rovers academy, which he joined at the age of 13. He remained there until the summer of 2025, before moving to English non-league side Swindon Supermarine to gain experience in senior football.

In their official statement, FA Šiauliai revealed that Leipus had already been training with the first team during the second half of last season. His recent contract signing now makes him a full member of the squad ahead of the upcoming A Lyga campaign.

The midfielder has earned 13 caps for Lithuania’s U-19 national team and spoke enthusiastically about his move after completing the transfer.

“My first impressions are that this is a great environment, both in terms of the coaching staff and the players,” Leipus said. “For me personally, this is an opportunity to gain experience in men’s football and to establish myself in the top division.

The city is very beautiful and not too big, which allows me to focus on football and family. The fans also seem fantastic – in every match I attended, they supported the team strongly.

Moving here was a big step at first because I am still young, but it has turned out to be a great decision, as I really like the culture here. Lithuanian is, of course, not my native language, but I understand some short phrases and words, and I will keep working on it – don’t worry!”
