After three rounds of matches in Lithuania’s top division, FA Šiauliai have strengthened their squad by signing midfielder Divine Naah, who won the Lithuanian championship last season.

Naah, who holds the record for the most appearances by a foreign player in Kauno Žalgiris history, became a free agent after the title-winning campaign and was searching for his next club. The move to the Sun City team had been planned earlier, but the Ghanaian midfielder’s arrival in Šiauliai had been delayed due to visa issues at the country’s embassy.

Naah’s first stop in European football was the academy of English powerhouse Manchester City, although he never made a senior appearance for the club. Instead, he was loaned to Norwegian side Strømsgodset. Later, he also spent time on loan with Dutch top-flight club NAC Breda. After his period in the Netherlands, the midfielder joined Danish Superliga side Nordsjælland.

The player, who will wear the number 24 shirt, has also represented Örebro SK in Sweden, AFC Tubize in Belgium, Hapoel Ra’anana in Israel, Mosta FC in Malta and Turan in Azerbaijan.

During his time in Kaunas, Naah made 135 appearances, scoring nine goals and registering one assist.

“I’m very happy and grateful to join this organization,” Naah said after completing the move. “From what I have seen so far, this is a club with big ambitions, a good structure and passionate supporters. I’m really looking forward to contributing to the team’s success and giving my best every day.

“This is a club where I want to work hard, improve every day and help the team achieve all the goals set for this season. Personally, I want to bring energy, commitment and quality to the squad. As a team, we want to compete in every match and finish the season as high as possible.

“I’m ready to give everything on the pitch for this club and enjoy every match together with you. I hope we will have a successful season and create many great moments. Keep supporting us from the stands, and we will fight for you in every game.”

Divine Naah possible debut might happen tomorrow when FA Šiauliai will play against FC Hegelmann in the league action.
