Šiauliai holds on to a win against Riteriai

In the only A Lyga match of the day, FA Šiauliai built a two-goal first-half lead and, despite conceding after the break, held on for a 2–1 victory over Riteriai.

From the very first whistle, the hosts dictated the tempo. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute, when striker Milan Djokić rose to meet a pinpoint cross from Danielius Jarašius, heading home the opener.

Moments later, both sides traded dangerous chances. Riteriai forward Meinardas Mikulėnas forced a save out of Gustas Baliutavičius, while at the other end Daniel Romanovskij went close, his shot flashing just wide.

As the first half neared its conclusion, Šiauliai struck again. Romanovskij, this time inside the box, kept his composure and doubled the lead, rewarding the attacking play of head coach Dainius Kazakevičius’ men.

The visitors refused to surrender after the break. In the 83rd minute, Jonas Usavičius netted his first goal of the season, converting a sharp assist from Leif Estevez to cut the deficit. Deep into stoppage time, Riteriai nearly equalized, but once again goalkeeper Baliutavičius came to the rescue with a decisive save.

With this win, Šiauliai climb to 49 points, closing in on third-placed Sūduva. Meanwhile, Riteriai remain in ninth place with 17 points.
