In Norway’s top-flight league action, Estonian international Rocco Robert Shein and his Fredrikstad side suffered a heavy 0–3 defeat on the road against league leaders Viking.
This marked Fredrikstad’s first match following the international break, with the 21-year-old Estonian midfielder making his second consecutive start. Facing off against a red-hot Viking squad that hadn’t lost since the league’s opening match—when they fell 1–3 to Valerenga—Fredrikstad were always going to be up against it. Viking had since gone unbeaten in 10 straight matches, winning eight and drawing two.
From the opening whistle, Viking lived up to their billing as title contenders. The home side wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Anders Baertelsen finding the net in just the eighth minute. Viking extended their lead in the 62nd minute of the second half before sealing the match with a third goal in the 80th minute, wrapping up a dominant 3–0 performance.
Shein, who transferred to Fredrikstad in the offseason for a club-record €800,000 fee from Dutch Eerste Divisie side FC Dordrecht, has now made 10 league appearances this season but is still searching for his first goal or assist in Norwegian football.
Following the loss, Fredrikstad sit in 7th place in the Eliteserien with 17 points from 11 matches. They’ll look to bounce back this Sunday when they host Tromsø.
