This morning, Lithuania’s national team head coach Edgaras Jankauskas unveiled his squad for the upcoming matches against Malta and Denmark, featuring several returning players and a mix of fresh talent and experience.

As preparations begin next week, a few familiar names are making their comeback to the national team setup. Among them are two goalkeepers: Džiugas Bartkus, who recently wrapped up his season in Saudi Arabia and is now on the lookout for a new club, and Tomas Švedkauskas, who has cemented his place in the starting XI of FK Kauno Žalgiris.

Also returning to the fold is Gratas Sirgėdas, Švedkauskas’ club teammate, who has had an excellent start to the A Lyga season, already tallying five assists. Another noteworthy comeback is Deividas Šešplaukis, who has been gradually regaining form following an injury while playing for FA Šiauliai.

Veteran midfielder Vykintas Slivka, currently playing in Japan with Sagan Tosu, is also included, bringing leadership and international experience to the squad. Meanwhile, Modestas Vorobjovas, recently recovered from injury and back in action in Turkey’s second division, returns to bolster the midfield options.

Among the standout names is rising star Romualdas Jansonas, who has earned a well-deserved call-up after an impressive run in the A Lyga, having already netted six goals this season.

However, the squad will be missing several key players due to injury. Most notably, Armandas Kučys (NK Celje) continues his recovery from a serious injury and remains unavailable for selection. Others such as Matas Vareika (Pyunik FC), Marius Adamonis (FC Südtirol), and Giedrius Matulevičius (FK Žalgiris) have also been left out.

Lithuania will kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Malta on June 7th, followed by a friendly away match against Denmark on June 10th.
