After a one-and-a-half-year break, Senegalese defender Seydina Keita has returned to FK Panevėžys. The 32-year-old has signed a contract with the former Lithuanian champions that will keep him at the club until the end of the current season.
Keita was part of the Panevėžys squad that clinched the TOPsport A Lyga title in 2023 and earned a bronze medal the year before. He also made a memorable mark on the club’s history by scoring the winning goal in the second leg against Milsami Orhei, helping Panevėžys secure its first-ever victory in European competition.
Following his successful stint in Lithuania, Keita moved to Al Tadamon in Farwaniya, initially competing in Kuwait’s second division. Over the past few months, he featured in the top-tier Kuwaiti Premier League.
Reflecting on his time abroad, Keita said:
“It was a good experience. I could talk a lot about the lifestyle in Kuwait and the football there. In many ways, I was satisfied. I remained in contact with FK Panevėžys, especially with director Bronius Vaitiekūnas, who wanted me to return. Once my contract in Kuwait ended, the decision came naturally. Now, I aim to share my experience with a team that’s doing a great job. Anything is possible in the championship, and together, we’ll strive for the highest goals.”
– Keita told the club’s official website fk-panevezys.lt.
