Scottish Championship runners-up Livingston F.C. have reportedly turned down an offer from Latvian champions FC RFS for their French goalkeeper Jérôme Prior.
The news was first reported by Sky Sports News Anthony Joseph and later confirmed by the Scottish outlet Daily Record, which noted that the bid was in the region of €175,000 — an offer that fell well short of Livingston’s valuation of the 29-year-old shot-stopper.
Following their promotion to the Scottish Premiership, Livingston triggered a one-year extension in Prior’s contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.
FC RFS head coach Viktors Morozs confirmed in a post-match press conference following their win against Super Nova that the team is actively searching for a new first-choice goalkeeper ahead of their UEFA club competition campaign. The need arose after the club decided not to extend their cooperation with previous No. 1, Cameroonian international Fabrice Ondoa. His replacement, Sergejs Vilkovs, failed to impress during his brief stint as starter. As a result, veteran goalkeeper Jevgēņijs Nerugals was called upon to start the latest Riga derby against arch-rivals Riga FC — a match RFS lost 1–3. It was the first time this season that Nerugals started in goal.
Jérôme Prior, a product of the Bordeaux academy, has made 29 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux’s first team. He joined Livingston ahead of the 2024/25 season and played a crucial role in their successful promotion campaign, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions and keeping an impressive 22 clean sheets.
Throughout his career, Prior has played for a variety of clubs across Europe, including Valenciennes FC and Pau FC in France, PAS Giannina in Greece, and FC Cartagena in Spain.
