Estonian vice-champions FCI Levadia Tallinn have announced a major reinforcement ahead of the new season, signing Estonia national team full-back Joseph Saliste to a long-term three-year contract.
The 30-year-old left-back returns to the capital after spending the past six seasons with Paide Linnameeskond, where he won both the Estonian Cup and the Estonian Super Cup.
Saliste is a product of the FC Flora academy and spent more than 15 years within Flora’s system, winning two Premium Liiga titles. He made his professional debut in 2014 at the age of 19 and developed into one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premium Liiga before leaving for Paide.
Last season, Saliste featured in 33 Premium Liiga matches, registering three assists. Across more than ten top-flight seasons, he has now accumulated 319 Premium Liiga appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 52 assists.
The defender has also earned 10 caps for the Estonian national team and expressed clear enthusiasm about joining Levadia.
“I’m very happy to join an ambitious and success-driven club like FCI Levadia,” Saliste said. “The club’s professionalism and standards have always been high, and I will give my maximum both in training and in matches to achieve our shared goals. I’m also pleased to train and play again under head coach Zahovaiko. I’m really looking forward to the upcoming Premium Liiga season and meeting Levadia’s fans.”
Levadia are entering a new chapter in 2026. Spanish head coach Curro Torres has departed, with Vjatšeslav Zahovaiko – Saliste’s former coach at Paide – taking over the role. The squad has also seen significant turnover, with foreign players Richie Musaba and Ernest Agyiri, as well as domestic players Mihkel Ainsalu, Michael Schjönning-Larsen, Edgar Tur, and Henri Järvelaid, all leaving the club.
