Romualdas Jansonas, whose contract with FK Žalgiris Vilnius recently ended, has officially signed with FK Žalgiris Kaunas following a five-day trial with Atalanta Bergamo.
The club has confirmed that Jansonas signed a long-term contract but has not disclosed the exact duration. The 19-year-old forward is a product of Žalgiris Vilnius academy and made his debut for the club’s first team at just 17 years old. In 2024, he also earned his first cap for the Lithuanian men’s national football team.
Wearing the colors of Vilnius’ main club, Jansonas has already played nearly 50 matches in the Lithuanian championship, scoring twice and providing two assists.
His most impressive performances so far have come in the UEFA Youth League, where in 2024 he scored six goals and ranked among the competition’s top scorers.
Jansonas also had a standout autumn with Lithuania’s U-21 national team, scoring twice in three appearances during the European Championship qualifiers.
Before signing with FK Žalgiris Kaunas, Jansonas also underwent a trial this winter with the renowned Italian club Atalanta Bergamo.
