In a thrilling Eliteserien clash, Estonian midfielder Rocco Robert Shein delivered two assists to help Fredrikstad FK secure a 3-2 home victory over Strømsgodset.
The 22-year-old Estonia international was once again named in the starting lineup for Fredrikstad and made his presence felt early. His first assist came in the 14th minute, when he delivered a corner kick that caused chaos in the box. Strømsgodset forward Alie Conteh inadvertently redirected the ball into his own net from close range-putting the hosts ahead 1-0.
Late in the first half, the visitors drew level. A turnover in Fredrikstad’s own half triggered a swift 4-on-3 counterattack, which Strømsgodset executed perfectly. Johan Bakke finished the move from close range, scoring his first goal of the season.
But Fredrikstad had a response before the halftime whistle. Once again, it was Shein with a pinpoint delivery from a corner, this time from the opposite side. His ball to the near post was met by Sondre Sørløkk, who glanced a header into the far corner to restore the home side’s lead at 2-1 just before the break.
In the second half, Strømsgodset found another equalizer. A long ball from their goalkeeper bounced around the edge of the area and fell perfectly for Krasniqi, who unleashed a shot from outside the box that caught the Fredrikstad goalkeeper off guard—making it 2-2.
Shein was subbed off in the 76th minute with the score still level. Despite leaving the pitch, his performance stood out—an individually strong showing capped by two set-piece assists.
Fredrikstad, however, weren’t done. In the final minutes Oskar Ohlenschlaeger broke into the box and cut the ball back to the middle, where the substitute Emil Holten took one touch to control and another to fire into the far corner – clinching a dramatic 3-2 win.
The victory was crucial for Fredrikstad’s push toward the top of the table. With 25 points from 17 matches, they currently sit sixth in the Eliteserien standings and remain firmly in the hunt top-part of the table finish.
For Rocco Robert Shein, this was his 16th league appearance of the season, during which he has contributed one goal and two assists. Fredrikstad’s next test comes on Saturday in a challenging away trip to Tromsø.
