Arminia Bielefeld announced today that Latvian national team forward Roberts Uldrikis has suffered a significant injury. During the DFB Cup quarter-final victory against Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen, Uldrikis sustained a cruciate ligament rupture. Unfortunately, this injury will require season-ending surgery.

Sporting Director Michael Mutzel commented on the situation: “This diagnosis is extremely bitter and sad news for Roberts personally, but also for our team. He integrated into our squad very quickly and immediately impressed us with his athleticism and character. Our medical department will now provide him with intensive support and develop a detailed treatment plan. We wish him all the best on his recovery journey and are confident that he will play an important role in our team again.”

Reflecting on the injury, Uldrikis shared, “As soon as I hit the ground, I realized that something was wrong. It hurts to know that my fears have come true. I felt very comfortable here from the start and received a warm welcome, both personally and in terms of sport. Now, I hope the boys can maintain the current momentum and come even closer together as a team. As soon as I’m able, I’ll be back to support the team.”

Latvian forward Roberts Uldrikis signed with the German 3. Liga side Arminia Bielefeld during the winter transfer window after spending the first half of the season with Athens Kallithea in the Greek top flight. Since joining, he has made seven appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Unfortunately, due to surgery, Uldrikis’ season has come to an end, and he is expected to be sidelined for several months.
