Back on home turf, FK Banga Gargždai made it two wins on the bounce in their TOPsport A Lyga campaign, cruising to a 2-0 victory over FK Riteriai – a result that dropped the visitors to the foot of the table.

It was the visitors who produced the first spark of the match, breaking forward straight from kick-off, but Leif Estevez’s strike was comfortably held by goalkeeper Mantas Bertašius. From there, the game settled into a tight and scrappy rhythm, until the deadlock was broken in the 27th minute. Aivaras Emsis stepped up to the spot and made no mistake, firing home after Matas Latvys was penalised for a foul inside the penalty area.

Banga wasted little time after the restart to strengthen their position. Ten minutes into the second half, a well-delivered set piece found the head of centre-back Simao Junior, who nodded in the second goal. His joy was short-lived, however, as he picked up an injury in the process and was forced off.

Late in the game, substitute Ignas Venckus almost put the result beyond doubt in style, smashing a shot against the upright. Riteriai’s best chance came when Meinardas Mikulėnas connected with a header, but Bertašius was perfectly placed to deny him.

The victory lifts Banga to eighth place with 28 points. For Riteriai, stuck on 14 points and now sitting in 10th, the fight to avoid finishing last has only grown more desperate.
