Latvian champions Riga FC have reportedly signed Brazilian centre-back Abner Salles da Silva – Abner – on loan from Esporte Clube Juventude, with the agreement including a buy-out clause.
The 21-year-old arrives as Riga strengthen their defensive options after selling their star centre-back El Bachir Ngom to Grasshopers in Switzerland. Abner’s Transfermarkt value stands at approximately €1 million.
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 2004, Abner began his youth career with Bangu before moving to América Mineiro and later joining Juventude’s academy. He signed his first professional contract with the Brazilian Serie A club in 2023 and played 19 games in Brazilian top flight last season. Juventude finished 19th out of 20 teams and got relegated to Serie B.
Standing at 1.89m, the right-footed defender operates primarily in the centre and is capable of playing in a back four or back three.
