Latvian vice-champions FC RFS have registered Ukrainian forward Daniel Kiwinda in their squad just one day before the start of the new Virslīga season.
The 21-year-old striker, who also has Kenyan roots, had been without a club since last summer. His previous team was Romanian top-flight side FCV Farul, where he made three appearances.
Kiwinda began his career in the academy of Dnipro, later going on to make 12 appearances for the club’s first team. After his spell in Ukraine, the striker moved to Hungarian side Videoton, although he did not make any appearances for the senior team there.
Meanwhile, RFS have also confirmed that Ivorian forward Mamadou Sylla will spend the season on loan at BFC Daugavpils. The striker played eight matches in the Virslīga last season – six during the first half of the campaign while on loan at Super Nova, and two appearances in the second half of the season after returning to RFS.
Sylla was particularly productive at reserve level, scoring nine goals in eight matches for the RFS second team during the previous campaign.
RFS will begin their new Virslīga season tomorrow, hosting league newcomers Ogre United in the opening match at their home stadium.
