RFS have appointed Konstantinos Kalaitzakis as the club’s new strength and conditioning coach, the club has announced.

The Greek joins after a spell with RFS Academy last year, when he spent three months in Riga as an intern. The placement came through the academy’s partnership with NYSA Sweden, and saw Kalaitzakis working across several youth age groups from U13 to U19.

Already seen on the sidelines during the first match against Ogre, Kalaitzakis holds a bachelor’s degree in sports science in Greece and completed a master’s degree in Spain, specialising in strength and physical preparation.

It is a great honour to be part of the RFS family,” Kalaitzakis said. “I am grateful for the trust the club has shown me from the first day and I will do everything possible to contribute to the team’s performances and success.

RFS’s next game is already this Friday, the 13th, when the club travels to Liepāja to face FK Liepāja at 18:00. Both clubs won their opening fixtures – RFS, expectedly, over Ogre United and Liepāja, unexpectedly, over defending Champions Riga FC.
