The semi-final pairings of the Latvian Cup have been confirmed following Tuesday’s draw:
FK Liepāja vs Riga FC
FC RFS vs FK Auda
Both ties carry history. Liepāja and Riga FC last met in the final in 2017, when the Kurzeme side lifted the trophy with a 2–0 victory. Meanwhile, RFS and Auda are no strangers to high-stakes meetings: Auda triumphed 1–0 in the 2022 final, while RFS claimed revenge last year with a 4–2 win.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 17–18 September, with exact dates and kick-off times to be confirmed separately.
FK Liepāja
Liepāja will contest the semi-finals for the third year running. The club last reached the final in 2021, having previously lifted the Cup in 2017 and 2020. Their route this year included a 2–0 win in the Kurzeme derby against JFK Ventspils, followed by a 2–1 victory over BFC Daugavpils.
Riga FC
Riga FC, Cup winners in 2018 and 2023, have also appeared in two other finals. Their 2024 campaign has been dominant so far, with emphatic wins against FK Tukums 2000 (4–0) and second tier side Riga Mariners (10–0).
FC RFS
RFS are in the semi-finals for the tenth consecutive season. The three-time winners (2019, 2021, 2024) are also the current holders of the trophy. This year, they edged FS Jelgava 1–0 before defeating FK Metta 3–2.
FK Auda
Auda’s greatest achievement remains their 2022 Latvian Cup triumph. The side also reached last year’s final and continue to show consistency in knockout football. Their 2024 journey featured a 1–0 victory over FK Grobiņa and a 3–1 extra-time win against SK Super Nova.
The Latvian Cup final is set for 30 October.
Since the competition’s launch in 1936, 39 different clubs have claimed the trophy. Following Latvia’s independence, 13 teams have lifted the Cup — with RFS the most recent champions.
