# Poseidon unsure whether to take up promotion after dominant Esiliiga title
**Poseidon have not decided whether to accept promotion to Estonia’s top flight after winning the Esiliiga title in emphatic fashion. The Pärnu side have won 18 of their 19 league matches, securing first place with three rounds remaining after an 8-0 away victory over Lasnamäe Ajax.**

Player-manager Anastasija Štšerbatšenia said the club’s limited playing resources made the step up uncertain. Poseidon could have entered the Meistriliiga this season, when only six teams competed, but Štšerbatšenia felt promotion would have been too big a leap. The club have not yet set first place as a target, she said.

Poseidon began their first season last year, winning the II liiga without defeat before claiming the women’s Year-End Tournament. Across nearly two full league seasons, they have lost only once: 4-2 away to Põlva Lootos in June. Štšerbatšenia credited the team’s form to a blend of young players representing Estonia’s national sides and experienced footballers, as well as strong team spirit. Players based in Vändra travel to Pärnu for training three times a week.
