Lithuania international striker Gytis Paulauskas made his debut in the K League 1 on Sunday, recording an assist, though his club Jeju SK suffered a late 2-1 home defeat against FC Seoul.
The 26-year-old forward played his first official match since joining Jeju in January from Slovak side Michalovce. Paulauskas was included in the starting lineup for the first time as Jeju searched for their first win of the season after collecting just one point from their opening two matches.
The visitors opened the scoring in the second half, putting Jeju under pressure heading into the final stages of the match. However, the hosts managed to level the game in the 88th minute, thanks in large part to Paulauskas.
Receiving the ball near the halfway line, the Lithuanian striker turned and carried the ball forward before spotting a teammate making a run through the middle. Paulauskas delivered a well-timed pass into space, allowing Byung-wook Choi to run through and finish the chance to make it 1-1.
The celebrations proved short-lived. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Seoul struck again to snatch a dramatic 2-1 victory.
After three matches, Jeju have collected just one point to begin the K League campaign. They will have little time to regroup, as their next match comes in three days at home against Ulsan HD.
