Latvia’s U-21 national team forward Gļebs Patika has taken the next big step in his professional career, signing a two-year contract with Slovak Nike Liga side Tatran Prešov. The 20-year-old striker joins fellow Latvian Daniels Balodis at the club.
A product of the Skonto Rīga and Riga FC academies, Patika made a name for himself in the 2022 season playing for Riga’s second team, where he finished as the Latvian Second League’s top scorer with an impressive 22 goals.
In the summer of 2023, the promising forward made a move to Cyprus, joining the Pafos FC youth system. There, he had a breakout season, becoming the top scorer in the Cypriot U-19 league with a remarkable 33 goals, helping his team to the league title.
Now, the young striker is ready to embrace a new challenge in senior football, as he steps into the Slovak top flight with Tatran Prešov. The club has had a slow start to the season, earning just one point from their first three league matches.
Tatran will look to turn things around quickly, with their next match set for tomorrow against Dunajská Streda
