On Sunday, Maksim Paskotši played the full match for Grasshopper as they suffered a 1-2 defeat against Servette in the Swiss Super League.

The 22-year-old Estonian center-back has been the manager’s first-choice center-back since Kristers Tobers moved to Aberdeen. Heading into this match, Grasshopper was on a five-game undefeated streak, with one win and four draws. Last week, they conceded a late goal against league leaders Lugano, resulting in a draw. Their opponents today, Servette, are also contenders for the league title.

Fifteen days ago, both teams faced each other at Servette’s home ground, and that match ended in a 1-1 draw.

This game began similarly to the match against Lugano last week, with Grasshopper taking an early lead after the Cameroonian midfielder Tsiy William Ndenge converted a penalty kick.

Despite Grasshopper having a positive feeling at halftime, as Servette failed to generate any chances, the second half saw a change. Servette made three substitutions at the start of the half, which turned the game around. In a three-minute span during the second half, Servette scored two quick goals to take the lead. The first goal came from Bosnian midfielder Miroslav Stevanovic, followed by a second from Steve Rouiller.

With Paskotši in defense, Grasshopper could not find the equalizer and accepted their first defeat of 2025.

Following this loss, Grasshopper dropped to 11th place in the league table, with 22 points from 24 games. Paskotši and his team will face Lausanne away next Saturday.
