Panevežys are preparing for significant changes during the summer transfer window, with five foreign players expected to leave the club as management looks to reshape the squad for the second half of the Toplyga season according to Baltic Football News information.
The club’s two largest shareholders, Dainius Janėnas and Renatas Grubliauskas, are understood to be dissatisfied with the performances of several foreign recruits and have informed both the players and their representatives that their futures at the club are uncertain.
Among those expected to depart are Tunisian centre-back Rayen Mzoughi, Slovenian defensive midfielder Lovro Grajfoner, Benin winger Jesse Adah and forwards Edvin Muratovic and Marko Bačanin. The club will reportedly seek either loan moves or permanent transfers for the players during the current transfer window.
The statistics illustrate the struggles. Mzoughi has managed only three appearances and 122 minutes of football this season. Grajfoner has featured in 13 matches but accumulated just 609 minutes, while Adah has appeared only five times and spent 150 minutes on the pitch.
Questions have also been raised about the club’s attacking options. Muratović has scored three goals in 17 appearances this season, while fellow striker Bačanin has found the net only once in 17 matches. Neither forward started Panevežys’ recent victory over Šiauliai, remaining among the substitutes throughout the match.
The expected departures form part of a broader attempt to reset the squad following a disappointing first half of the campaign. Despite several summer additions and the arrival of a new Finnish head coach, Panevežys have struggled to match the expectations that accompanied one of the league’s strongest budgets.
With the transfer window now open until 15 July, further arrivals are expected as the club looks to strengthen key areas and reignite its season. The departures of several high-earning foreign players would also create additional room in the wage budget for new signings.
More changes could follow in the coming weeks as Panevėžys continue evaluating both the squad and the club’s sporting direction ahead of the second half of the season.
