Panevėžys will be left without Kosovan left-back Laurito Krasniqi for the LFF Super Cup, with the defender sidelined after undergoing surgery in Belgium.
Krasniqi, who featured in all 36 matches of last season’s TOPlyga (back then, A Lyga) campaign, returned to training in mid-January and played in two pre-season friendlies before suffering the setback.
“I got injured in the friendly against Jelgava. It’s a knee cartilage injury, so I won’t be able to play for a few weeks,” Krasniqi told the club’s official media. “I’ll do everything possible to come back stronger. I wish the team success in the Super Cup match – let’s win the first trophy of the season together.”
Panevėžys face reigning champions Kauno Žalgiris in the Super Cup on Monday, 16th February, with kick-off at 15:00 at the Marijampolė Football Arena.
