Lithuanian Cup holders FK Panevėžys continue their preparations for the new season by adding goalkeeper Arijus Bražinskas to their squad.

The 25-year-old spent the past two seasons with FC Hegelmann, where he shared goalkeeping duties with Vincentas Šarkauskas, who has also left the club this off-season. Standing at 195 cm, Bražinskas featured in 11 A Lyga matches last season, keeping three clean sheets. During the second half of the campaign, he slipped into the role of second-choice goalkeeper after losing his starting place to Šarkauskas.

This move marks Bražinskas’ fourth club in six years since returning from abroad. In 2017, he joined the academy of Sheffield Wednesday in England, spending a year there before continuing his development in Italy, where he played two seasons in the lower divisions.

Since returning to Lithuania in 2021, Bražinskas has made 46 A Lyga appearances, representing DFK Dainava Alytus, FK Kauno Žalgiris, and FC Hegelmann.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the goalkeeper explained his decision to join Panevėžys.

“The club’s vision and the conditions offered by Panevėžys left me with very few doubts,” Bražinskas said. “I’ve heard only positive things about the club, the supporters, and the city. I see how consistently the team is developing, and I feel this is a place where I can continue to grow.

“As always, I set the highest goals for myself ahead of the new season – to help the team achieve victories and the best possible results. After the break, I’ve already returned to training, working on my physical condition and getting back into rhythm.”

Bražinskas becomes Panevėžys’ fourth signing of the offseason, following the arrivals of Ernestas Burdzilauskas, Oleksandr Kurtsev, and Matas Ramanauskas.
